Usually, two types of marriage certificates are seen in Pakistan, first one is manual Marriage certificate and second one is computerized marriage certificate.

 

In this article, I have tried to explain the difference between manual marriage certificate and computerized marriage certificate. The differences are as under:-

Manual Marriage certificate is the primary and first document of marriage, containing detailed information about bridegroom, bride, their ages, marital status, witness of marriage, date of marriage, dower amount, special terms and conditions, information about existing wife and children of bridegroom (if already married), names, signatures and seals of Nikah Khuwan and Nikah Registrar and signatures/thumb impressions of the parties and witnesses. This manual marriage certificate is caused to be registered by Nikah Registrar in concerned Union Council or Cantonment Board.

 

Nikah Khuwan (the person performing the marriage ceremony) and the Nikah Registrar (the person responsible for registering the marriage) may and may not be the same persons. If Nikah Khuwan is holding license of Nikah registration, he can act in both capacity as Nikah Khuwan as well as Nikah Registrar.

Computerized marriage certificate is the secondary and second document of marriage, can be obtained from concerned Union Council or Cantonment Board etc on the basis of already issued manual  marriage certificate.

A computerized marriage certificate does not contain detailed information like a manual marriage certificate contains, however basic and primary information is mentioned in this document.

Manual marriage certificate is written by hand and in most cases it is in Urdu language.

 

 

 

 Computerized Marriage Certificate is printed in English as well as Urdu, both languages.

Manual Marriage Certificate is known as “Nikah Nama

 

Computerized marriage certificate is known as “Marriage Registration Certificate”

In short, it is called “MRC

Blanks papers format of manual marriage certificate can be obtained from general shops / stationary shops. 

 

Printed / computer generated can be obtained from concerned Union Council or Cantonment Board etc, but for that you should already hold manual marriage certificate

To get manual marriage certificate, you need blanks paper format of manual certificate, Nikah Khuwan and Nikah Registrar.

After making entries in manual marriage certificate, Nikah Registrar get the manual marriage certificate registered in concerned Union Council or Cantonment Board and provide the registered copy to the parties.

To get, computerized marriage certificate, you need to have already issued registered manual marriage certificate.

NADRA has no direct or indirect relation regarding issuance of manual marriage certificate

 

NADRA has no concern of any kind with issuance manual registration certificate.

 

The issuance of manual marriage certificate includes the process of involvement of Nikah Khuwan and Nikah Registrar and subsequently its registration by Nikah Registrar in concerned Union Council or Cantonment Board.

 

 

NADRA has no direct relation with issuance of Computerized Marriage certificate

To some extent NADRA has concern with issuance of computerized marriage certificate due to indirect relation regarding issuance.

 

Indirect relation is in a sense that Union Council or Cantonment Board etc use software of NADRA for issuance of computerized marriage certificate.

 

Therefore, people may call it NADRA marriage certificate.

Manual Marriage Certificate may not be acceptable in every forum and may require computerized marriage certificate

Computerized Marriage Certificate is acceptable in every forum.
