Marital Status Change NADRA complications |
To avoid
future complications, you should always keep your record up to date in NADRA. Marital
status is one of those records, which you should keep updated in NADRA's
Office.
If you have
been married, you should approach to NADRA office for changing your marital
status from "unmarried" to "Married".
In the same
way, if you are married in NADRA's record but now have divorced your wife, in
this case too, you should change your
marital status in NADRA's record from "married" to "divorced".
The above
said instructions for changing martial status are not only for male but also
females.
03 Complications, in case, the marital status is not changed/updated in NADRA.
1. Inheritance Property complication
A male who
has divorced his wife but not updated his martial status in NADRA's record, if
such person dies leaving behind his any property. In this situation, as per
Shariah and Law, his divorced wife does not have a right to claim any share in the
property of deceased but because of non updating the martial status, his divorced
wife is still appearing as existing wife in NADRA's record. If wife take Family

2. Second Marriage complication
In
Islam, a woman is allowed to contract
only one marriage at a time. Two marriages at the same time is not allowed to a
women. However, after the death or divorce by her husband, she can contract
another marriage.
If a woman whose
marital status in NADRA's record is married, has been divorced by her husband but
their martial status has not been updated in NADRA's record. Such woman may
have to face difficulty in contracting another marriage because in her
Identity Card, the name of her husband may be appearing and if this is not the
case, then in NADRA's record her marital status may be appearing as
"married". So, in this case, NADRA will not register another marriage
of such woman because NADRA does not enter record of two marriages of same woman
at same time.
So, such
woman must have to change her marital status from "married' to
"divorced" so that she may not find any difficulty in contracting
another marriage.
3. Child's Birth Registration complication
If the
parties have married to each other and have given birth to their child but they
have not updated their marital statuses in NADRA's record from
"unmarried" to "married", they may have to face defaulting in
registering the birth of their child/children in NADRA's record.
To register,
such child in NADRA's record or to get his/her Form B, the parties should
change their marital status in NADRA's record from "unmarried" to
"married" so that they may not find any difficult in registration of birth
of their children.
