Every one would want that his ID Card/ CNIC may not be misused for any
purpose. ID Card is very important document which contains your personal
information like your name, father name, date of birth, ID number, address etc
and same can be used about each and every forum.
It is important to keep your not only Original ID Card but its
photocopy as well in safe custody to
avoid its misuse. So, in this article, I will discuss on:-

1. How ID Card can be misused?
An ID Card can be misused in various ways, though all the ways cannot be explained
here, however, few of them are given below:-
Property Sale
Any person who has your ID Card can get stamp paper on your name and may
write agreement thereon that you have sold your property to him. Click

his consent and genuine signature but still it is not impossible.
In the same way, such person who has got issued stamp paper on your name
can write any terms & conditions of his choice.
Though, your signatures contained on such stamp paper are forged but for

In some cases, your ID Card can be misused to stand surety on behalf of
any one. For example, any accused in an FIR file his bail petition for
obtaining bail, the court may grant bail subject to furnishing surety bond to
the tune of any amount. In this case, your ID Card can be used for standing
surety on behalf of any one. If that person does not appear before the court,
the court takes action against the person who stood surety on behalf of
accused. Though, it is not as much easy
as you might be thinking but still
possible. I am not going to discuss here in detail how process takes place but
gave you just an idea.
Taking Loan through ID Card
At current, there are many online
applications like Easy Loan, Barwaqat, Fori Money and man other applications which
offer loan packages just on the basis of ID Card / CNIC. Any one who has your
CNIC/ID Card an apply for loan using
your ID Card.
Beware! Most of the mobile loan applications are blackmailers and threat the applicant in different ways if
applicant fails to pay back the loan amount with interest. Besides, getting CNIC, photo they also can get access
of mobile data like contact number, gallery etc and starts blackmailing on the
basis of such data.
I am not going to blame any specific mobile application which use these fraudulent techniques but I recommend you not to take loan from any
mobile application.

2. How to avoid an ID Card from being misused?
To avoid an ID Card from being misused, you should take care of your ID
Card/ CNIC and keep in very much safe custody. Following are few tips, which
you can follow to avoid misuse of ID card.
Dont give Original ID card to anyone:
You may need to get Domicile Certificate, Driving License or any other
document for which your ID Card may be required.
Usually, none of the Departments demands you to submit your original ID
Card. The department may demand you to only show Original ID Card and submit
only photo copy of ID Card .
In some cases, you may cause your any work done through any Agent and
such Agent demands you to provide original
ID Card. So, at this stage, be aware and not to give your Original Card to such
Agent or any other person who is not completely trust worthy.
Cross the CNIC Copy and specify its purpose
If your photocopy of ID Card is needed by any department, always give crossed
CNIC to department and also write the purpose of giving CNIC copy. Do this on
both sides of ID Card copy.
When giving CNIC copy to anyone, usually people only cross or double
cross it. But I think its is not correct and safe. Because, the purpose for which ID Card copy has
been given is not mentioned on CNIC and the person who has taken the copy of
CNIC can use it for any other purpose as well.
Keep your Original as well as Photocopy of CNIC is safe
custody
Not only original CNIC is important to be kept in safe custody but its photocopy is also required to
be kept in safe custody.
Dont upload your ID Card in non trustworthy website
Dont upload your ID Card to any website which is not trustworthy. If you
want to save your ID card on your E-Mail account, you can do it but dont share
its password to any one otherwise, your ID Card
can be downloaded by such person whom you have given password and same
can also be misused.
Coloured Copy of CNIC
Try not to keep original CNIC in your pocket all the time as it may be
lost at any time. Alternatively, you can have coloured copy of CNIC in your
pocket. However, if you are going to
such a place where your original ID Card is required, then keep it with you for
that particular place.
Report to Police about Lost ID Card
If your ID Card has been lost with or without photocopies. Do report to
police with detail like original Card
has been lost along with its photocopies and get Police Report. So that, in
case your ID Card is misused, you would have shelter of such reporting to
police.
Save the police Report about missing CNIC in safe custody and also save
on email account as well so that it may
be save permanently and can be obtained when required.
