Before explaining the procedure of obtaining CNIC against lost, I would like to explain the new NADRA Policy regarding lost CNIC. The policy is that you cannot obtain a regular CNIC in place of your lost one rather you can obtain only Smart NIC against your lost simple CNIC.


NADRA has stopped providing facility of Reprint CNIC.

 

If you have lost your CNIC dont worry at all, you can get another ID Card against your lost one.  In  this article, I will be covering following points:-

1.    Requirements for lost CNIC/ Smart NIC

 

  • Personal appearance of applicant
  • Personal appearance of applicant's blood relative.


2.    Documents required for applying for a CNIC against lost CNIC.

 

-        Copy of your lost CNIC

 (Note-1, if you dont have copy of your CNIC, you must have your CNIC number. NADRA will process your application on the basis of your CNIC number)

 (Note-2: Copy of FIR is not the requirement of NADRA, however, you can report to police regarding misplacing/snatching of your CNIC for your own safety.

 

3.    Procedure for lost CNIC in Pakistan

Just visit your nearby NADRA office personally. Obtain taken and wait until you are called.  Provide the copy of your lost CNIC or CNIC number only to the representative/ staff of NADRA. Your Data will be entered, photograph may be taken. The biometrics of your blood relatives may be taken. You will be issued a receipt.

 FAQs

Can you apply for reprint your CNIC, if lost?

No, currently, accordingly to new NADRA's Policy, you cannot apply for reprint your CNIC if it is lost or snatched. You can only apply for Smart ID Card. Earlier, you were able to apply in Reprint CNIC category but at current NADRA has stopped issuing CNIC in reprint category.

Is it mandatory requirement of NADRA to have copy of FIR or Rapt for obtaining duplicate CNIC/ID Card?

No, holding copy of FIR/ Police Rapt is not a mandatory requirement of NADRA but it is recommended for you to hold copy of FIR/ Police Report for your own safety in case CNIC is misused.

Should you accompany any one to NADRA office for issuance of duplicate ID Card/CNIC?

Yes, you should accompany your blood relative for issuance of your duplicate ID Card (i.e Smart NIC in alternate to simple CNIC).
